Proluton Depot (Hydroxyprogesterone) is a synthetic hormone similar to the natural female sex hormone progesterone. It is used in the prevention of spontaneous abortion in women with a history of recurrent miscarriage (habitual abortion). Spontaneous abortion occurs when the body`s levels of progesterone drop below the required level to maintain pregnancy. Therefore this medicine is used to maintain these levels and prevent miscarriage.
